Fruit of the vine - Walk in the Clouds

I first heard of Napa Valley years ago when I was still living in the Philippines - from the movie A Walk In The Clouds. When I saw the vineyards and the rolling hills and the mists draping the hills, I thought to myself - no place can be this beautiful, these are all digitally enhanced. I'm sure parts of it is but I'm so glad to have this beautiful valley just at my fingertips. I've been there during the fall when the leaves change from green to purple, orange and red. I've been there durin harvest time and during the winter months when the vines are bare. I have never seen in before harvest time - when all the the vines are heavy with fruit.

So a few weeks ago, I did a day trip to Napa Valley with a friend. I've always wanted to see the vines heavy with grapes before it gets harvested. As I have mentioned, I am a frustrated shutter. I love taking photos and would love to learn more about photography and someday soon, I plan on buying a DSLR.

Now that I have that out of the way. The day in Napa was a bit on the hot side but it was a weekday so we did not have to deal with the crowds.

We always stop at Oakville Grocery to get some snacks before we head out. I've been to Mondavi twice before but my friend hasn't so we went there. They have a nice art gallery and for $30.00 they can get you to a private tour. $10 for winetasting. With our wallets a little depleted, we skipped it for now.

We headed next to Peju Windery , a place I have never been to before but I always see this line of curving and slender Eucalyptus trees by it's side. We were delighted to find that it has such a nice garden and beautiful fountain that encases a stone building with eastern-styled roofing.

It's nice to be a tourist at a nearby town :). Come check out Napa Valley one of these days.
