I have been catching up on AI and had just started watching it last season and it's quite a good show, no wonder it is such a part of this mosaic of American pop culture.
His interpretations of the songs has yet to disappoint. He doesn't butcher it, doesn't do a marginalized version of it but rather, takes it under his wing and recreates them beautifully and it comes out a different art form. When he sings, he sings with an emotional connection you know.
Take for instance " Always be my baby". I love this ong by Mariah Carey and for him to interpret it so beautifully...and when sings it, man, I feel like I'll always be his baby ..hahahaha, you know what I'm saying? And does he have control of the musical arrangment? Because that arrangement is absolutely brilliant - down to the gentle acoustic intro to the haunting string and to the emotional build up of the drums - absolutely amazing , and then his voice. I mean, even without the musical arrangment, it's still a powerful performance just thru his voice alone; however, the musical arrangment served as an emblishment to it - making it a great performance. :D
I am so ready to buy his album, if he gets kicked out, then great, I'm sure he is so up for grabs for record labels and I will sit here and wait , patiently for his first album. :)
