SPQR Last Day

Hard to believe that this is my last day, I hope that my flight back to the USA will be effortless - easy pea-zy...like two fingers up your nose. I honestly wished Ive planned this day better because now im tired , mosquito bitten and i have a good 20 minute walk to the metro but it will take me straight to fco, I want to go the The City but I found out that I need to buy a metro bus ticket at a tabak shop otherwise I would be fined E100

I have been updating my written journal but not so much on this internet blog which I know I should, it is better when it is fresher in your mind. I found this great hostel at the fringes of the city, a short bus ride from Santa Maria Magiorre or Vittorio Emanuele or was it Emanuele Vittorio I still cant figure out where the other things are on this keyboard hehehehe It is by a series of brick Arches which I know predates just about everything around here

I was reading my last entry and I cant believe I have not updated this since Austria and even then, I was talking about CF.I hope I can refer back to my journal entries. My mind was still fresh on those entries, I am not tired and looking forward to getting my own bed and my own bathroom hehehehe.

Rome, being further south is a lot warmer, although pleasantly warm, I might say. I will definitely do a trip during the fall season and not the summer months.

We have to say goodbye to Rene - this great and ever so skillful (and dare I say equally good looking) driver who made the logistics from France to CH to Austria to Germany to Venice to Tuscanny to Florence and to Rome possible. He skillfully manuevered our bus through the snowy roads of Austria, the winding roads of CH, the crazy freeways of Italy. Our bus towered just about every single-decked bus that I have seen.

This is Rome - I simply marvel at their genius on engineering and practicality. I am still ambivalent about their gladiator hobby but then again, I do enjoy watching MMA. Our local guide Luca guided us through the rich Roman History and we started off at the Coliseum. The remnants of what must have been a beautiful marble and bronze piece of work. Luca even walked us through the arches where the gladiators and other competitors will enter through to face the crowd surrounding them. I could almost hear the cheers of the crowd I can not help but do a bad Rocky impersonation - arms and fists up in the air. My camera batteries died in the middle of it all. We then went to the ruins of The Forum where temples of the roman dieties once stood. There are still remnants of the what appears to be marble columns but also layers upon layers of bricks plastered by volcanic ash.Maritime pines grow about the forum and so do weeds. I saw a moulding for a lack of a better word I dont know if it was used as crown moulding or embellishment but I saw a solid block of some geologic materal and carved on it are these beautiful flowers.

I am falling asleep here, I must rest for a flight tomorrow.
