August 15 Outside Lands San Francisco, CA

This will be a long story :). I don't want my memory to get so fuzzy that it gets mixed into the miasma of selective questionable memories.

Music festivals are a music fan's holiday. I am shocked to realize that Outside Lands is the very first music festival I've ever been to.I've been to quite a number of concerts - from intimate venues to big arenas but I have never been to a music festival. Several stages are set up in different locations and fans are given a line up schedule to plan out their music itinerary. It's an all day affair with the headliner being the ribbon/bow that completes this gift box of a music fest.

Food, Drinks and merchandise vendors abound. Porta-potties are set up but they are not for the faint of stomach but they are still a good resource and it certainly beats the more repelling idea of festival goers defecating and urinating on the grounds.

I've had dreams of going to Bonaroo, Coachella, South By Southwest, Vans Warped Tour and New Orlean's Jazzfest and have not really found the time to make it a reality.

Outside Lands Music Festival, if I'm understanding correctl is fairly new to SF , it has been around for less than 5 years.

This year, they scaled it down to 2 days, Saturday and Sunday. I only went to the one on Sunday, baby steps.

We took the BART and MUNI to get to the park. When we took BART we were surrounded by people in orange (myself included). Turns out that they were Giants fans ready to watch the game at AT&T Park.

When we got to the Powell Station to take MUNI BUS #5, it was filled up to capacity - most of the passengers were headed to the Golden Gate Park to celebrate Outsand Lands. I can't help but observe a group of young girls in their late teens who were also headed for the festival. More specifically, the outfit they were wearing. I first noticed the shoes. They were black canvas lace up shoes but in place of the shoes laces are just the holes. But in the holes are studded silver spikes. She then had a sheer black pantyhose, cut off jean shorts and shirt with a silver embellished neckline. I also noticed that she has on a very well worn tiny Fendi over the shoulder bag. I think if I were around her age, I'd dress this way too. Very urban with a rock and roll vibe, sans the Fendi :D.

Another observation during outside lands - boots abound. There were biker boots, cowboy boots, boots with fringes, suede, leather and pleather. Knee highs, over the knees, mid calf and ankle. The color that stood out most for me is the beautiful cognac color. While no one will ever replace the great and fabulous Sartorialist blog, I can't help but wish I was not so shy as to ask these people if I may take a photo of them. I've seen people in this festival that look so effortlessly put together but in an eccelectic sort of way.

The temperature in SF hovered from 55-58 degrees. So I was happy to put on a scarf and a jacket. Orange and purple may clash but I have a multicolored scarf to put it together. A pair of distressed faded jeans and baby pink loafers completed my outfit.
