Ryde Hotel Investigation

I mentioned Ryde Hotel back in January. Back in its early days, celebrities like Judy Garland and Marilyn Monroe has enjoyed The Ryde's hospitality and sought refuge in the low-key charm of the delta from the glam and glitz of Hollywood. Mobsters were known to also patronize this place during its earlier days.

Back in the 20s, during Prohibition, The Ryde also became a speakeasy for those who brought their love for liquor underground. It has been said that bootlegs were funneled from the river through a secret underground passage into the hotel.

We did an investigation there on February 17, 2010. While I have yet to go through my recordings, one of the coolest subjective personal experience for me (although there were many) was when the front French-door like doors shook at 3am while we were trying to communicate with a male spirit whom we called Brian.

Walking inside the Ryde, I can almost hear the big band music and its patron dancing on its dancehall. There is not a threatening atmosphere, but almost like a lets-party feeling. I was walking through the darkened hallways with the trifield meter but I did not get any significant emf hits exept for when we were at the restaurant it went as high as a 7 and I tried to trace the source but oddly enough, the needle would go down if I move it left or right , up or down, it's as though there is a concentration of high emf on mid air.

We would occasionally take breaks outside the hotel and at one point, at exactly 12:20am we heard what sounded like tribal Indian drums - but from where? It was rather interesting.

The delta is so quiet at night except for the sound of cows off the distance and river ducks. It could get a bit unnerving to hear things splash into the darkness of the river. I didn't get to experience this but the other investigators saw a white shadow crossing the road, D was even stopped at mid sentence when she said " ..what the heck was that? I thought I saw a white shadow.."

I just went through my recordings and all in all caught about a couple B+-A EVPs. One was in the 2nd Floor room across command central, 1 while were were on the 3rd floor stairs saying "hello" .

We went to bed at about 4am and I couldn't sleep that well but I woke up at 6am and took photos of the morning river mist - the river looked even more mysterious. It's interesting that when we went to bed at around 4am, the delta was clear, we can see the stars up in the sky - there was no river mist forming at all. It seems like this mist formed at around 5-6am. The hotel faces east so I saw the sunrise as it slowly burned out the mist. Careful not be struck by cars, I crossed the river road to go down the steps to the river below to enjoy the mist and serenity of the river. The mist filtered soft golden sunlight through , silhouetting the bare trees that are across the other bank.

I was so tired and it sucked that I was stuck behind a semi all through out my drive back home so it took longer to go home, but it didn't stop me from taking photos of the windmills, the grazing the cows and the mustard flowers.

I got home and crashed in the couch. I'm no longer 19 years old and my body was in great need of repair and recharge.

If I have the resources, I would love to celebrate some type of event at the Ryde Hotel. This is a Hotel with a lot of character and has a family-owned, non-commercialized feel to it.
