and then some.
Seeing NKOTB/Ne-yo's video "Single" woke up the hibernating prepubescent girl in me. I really regret not seeing them in concert. I know two people from work who did and loved every second of it. They only have raves about it and they can't stop saying how good they still were and how they "still got it". They told me tales about 30-something-year-old women wearing their old NKOTB tees and wondered how they got in it. They told me tales of how they didn't have a voice the next day because they were screaming and singing along with everyone.
Then my sister showed me The Video - Singles. Seeing Joe McIntyre singing the first lines of the song felt like being sucked in a vortex of time. The walls around me collapses and reconstructs and I am in my pale pink room again in Valley View- I'm squealing, sighing and grinning from ear to ear.I was back to the "present-day" me soon after though , and sadly, I still felt the same - this beautiful young boy is now a beautiful grown ADULT man, at ease in his element - looky fly (effortlessly) in a gray suit. Here I am squealing, sighing and grinning from ear. My siser and I did a " screaming duet" and she pushed me so hard as she screamed that it tipped the computer chair off where I was sitting on and I held on to the desk edge to keep me from falling.
And then the audio and visual stimulation just kept coming - is this Donnie Whalberg? The man is hotter than ever. He's always had that street cred/bad boy streak in him back in the days and he still got the street cred , the moves , the voice. I no loner see his tail-mullet, his hair looks darker, cut stylishly clean, short and evenly distributed around his head - no receeding hairline either. Again , in his element - I saw him in Sixth Sense and I did not even recognize him. Then I heard someone screaming - oh wait, that was me , yet again.
Jordan Knight filled in a little but still looks the same. He always sounded dorky next to Ne-Yo's interpretation of the line " So you don't gotta be alone.."...
Ne-Yo held his own with them out thee. So nice for him to provide the collaboration.
A good move to reinstroduce NKOTB to the pop culture landscape where the younger/ newer generation are more familiar with the likes of...oh...Miley Cyrus.
I kept on watching and noticed that Danny and Nik was just show little scenes here and there ... ever the good supporting roles but NKOTB will still not be the same without them.
And may I say, I'm so glad they a picked mysterious/dark-haired/exotic beauty as their subject - wooohoo!!!! :)
When all is said and done, I'm simply a person, updating my block on a Saturday morning, reminscing about girly dreams about boys who can sing and dance who turned into beautiful grown men- who can still sing and dance :D.
The End
