Veni, Sancte Spiritus

I enjoy learning and reading about history in general.I think I have my highschool (most admired and respected) History Teacher Ms. Malveda for vibrantly nourishing my young mind to bloom the interest for it. The interest to know and understand past events, to appreciate and understand what we are now and move forward to the future.

The history fan in me is enamored by bibilical events aligned with history. Especially during the Roman Empire. While there are still so many holes in my knowledge, I thirst to know more about these events.

About how an Empire that took over Jerusalem and under an Empire where a great Rabbi was persecuted ,, tortured and executed - has fallen from its glory. This Rabbi's teachings did not die with Him but was passed on by his great followers, and how the heart of this Rabbi's teachings and authority just sits right outside the City of Seven Hills - the heart of the very same Empire who executed him. Opps, my Karma ran over your Dogma. Out of His teachings emerged Christianity, and the earliest form it all - Catholicism. And no, we are not the Whore Of Babylon. When St. John wrote the revelation, he was very concerned about how Jerusalem would fall under the iron grip of Rome and Emperor Nero - who is the Whore of Babylon. Even Jesus, through precognition, saw this coming.

This marks the End of the Easter Season for Catholics. This also marks the early records of the spread of Christianity. Pentecost is the other book end of Easter Season, the other being Easter. I have always been fascinated by the description of the Pentecost. Jesus was found amongst his disciple although the doors were locked. He showed them the scars of his suffering and cruicifixion. A high and loud wind was heard and it enveloped the room and tongues of fire ascended from heaven and flamed on top of the head of the disciples. People gathered and realized that the disciples were speaking in tongues. It also showed how diverse this place was as it described people from ancient lands - including present day Iran, and yet, despite the language barriers - they all understood what was being said. Incredible. This is the other face of the Trinity manifesting - the burning fire of The Holy Spirit.

In Catholic School, the 7 Gifts of the Holy Spirit were taught to me.

Wisdom
Fortitude
Counsel
Knowledge
Piety
Fear of God
Understanding

On this day, I ask that I maybe be blessed with these gifts. Veni, Sancte Spiritus.
The only way for myself to know myself, is to understand and know God. I am created after His/Her image, and therefore, I am beautiful. :)
